Built by two pattern cutters who missed the point of hype.

RONIN86 was founded in 2019 in Osaka by Haruto Ishida and Los Angeles-based co-founder Nadia Cole, who met while both working quality control for a mid-size sneaker manufacturer. They were tired of watching genuinely well-built pairs get lost in marketing noise, so they built a label around the opposite idea: every release is documented like hardware — full material spec, construction notes, and a plain-language grade instead of vague hype copy.

Today the studio runs two ateliers — a construction and sampling floor in Osaka, and a design and drop-ops team in Los Angeles — and treats every release as a dated, numbered artifact rather than a seasonal SKU.
